In a crowded hall I bump into it,
Image of ignorance and arrogance,
All is placed into one human being,
Along with the sense of the status quo,
And then the flame of pride is ignited.

I turn and stare, being threatened by pride,
I can't understand words only silence,
It screams and feels unheard by my blank face.
It starts to prepare for battle, for what?
I made an error and apologized.
Yet my words didn't leave an impression.

I fear the attention so I retreat,
In doing so I am attacked any way.
I sense the attack and move just in time,
It is so bewildered and stares at me.
My words earlier did not leave a mark,
So now I speak with voices of many.
"I shall not cower in fear from your pride,
I won't relent to your foolish ways, you,
You have no sense of serenity, I,
I know nothing of your life, neither you mine.
Let me be to my thoughts, leave me alone."
There I leave it and carry on with life.

Hannah Bryson Price

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/dealing-with-pride/
