no rain
no rain
there is no rain today perhaps this soul is unworthy of water
eye could see the clouds passing over they were angry and full of water
they carry an hour of fury to someone perhaps an enemy
why did the clouds leave me
perhaps they sensed the water is not needed or they could see they could not get me wet
they pirouette to some other lover now
they dance the fat rain dance and they scream in fury at some other pal
eye am not sad the rain is not my need
am eye a flower growing roots stems and seeds a little water now and then to cool the land but rain no rain no rain
we need no rain when it is only normal heat in sight
the birds chirp and gambol as they live in day light
but the real reason the rain has left they could tell eye was inside the cliff inside the cave where rain can never hit
in a sheltered place of quietness a great wide hall of reading books they line the shelves and collect the dust of centuries killing unlucky spiders that try to set up webs
reducing flies to landing on the outside of the window still they try to fly inside
but there is no rain in here
no rain

Charles Hice

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/no-rain-4/
