The murmur of the waves <br />as they rush up and down <br />along the sandy shore, <br />the hawkish screeches of the seagulls <br />as they circle in the sky <br />looking for something to eat. <br />A typical day at the seaside <br />during a long warm summer <br />with people resting in deckchairs <br />along the shore and striped coloured <br />windbreaks scattered here and there. <br />Children shouting with ice-cream cones in hand <br />as they run away from the water's edge <br />each time it invades the shore. <br />Cameras capture moments, <br />stolen segments in time <br />to be treasured forever <br />as the years roll away <br />of a day by the seaside <br />on a hot summers day. <br /> <br /> <br />6 September 2014<br /><br />David Harris<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-hot-summers-day-2/
