I wrote a poem <br /> <br />Then threw it away. <br /> <br />The crumpled up piece of paper <br /> <br />Are things I'm too scared to say. <br /> <br />I talked about your lips <br /> <br />Eyes, hands, and the movement of your hips. <br /> <br />That was all physical appearance <br /> <br />Showing my shallow thoughts <br /> <br />When I try to go deeper <br /> <br />I cannot, I am lost. <br /> <br />A void exist within <br /> <br />Swallowing emotions <br /> <br />So no one gets in. <br /> <br />If that's what I want, <br /> <br />Do I win? <br /> <br />Does a detached heart <br /> <br />Grin at the sight <br /> <br />Of a shattered heart <br /> <br />After a long night <br /> <br />When tears blind its sight? <br /> <br />Cackling in delight, <br /> <br />A guarded heart is always right. <br /> <br />But loneliness is cold <br /> <br />Being emotionless gets old <br /> <br />Feelings were never really vacant <br /> <br />And now they're wearing on your patience <br /> <br />You start to feel alone <br /> <br />But hey, then again, you should have known.<br /><br />Laura Raimondo<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/i-wrote-a-poem-6/
