While I'm glad that I'm cold sober, <br />I'm smoking way too much, <br />So that's why I'll join Stoptober, <br />In fact, I mustn't budge! <br />With firm resolve till on the mend, <br />The days will soon pass by, <br />Smoke free, defiant to the end, <br />All I must do is try... <br /> <br />I've been a smoker way too long, <br />I've seen them take their toll, <br />Yet all the while they did me wrong, <br />I simply lost control... <br />From five to ten, then more and more, <br />But just for habit's sake, <br />I was a sucker, that's for sure, <br />As all they did was take... <br /> <br />And, man, each packet costs a lot, <br />Just think how much I'll save <br />And I'll improve what health I've got, <br />Denying what I crave... <br />If I stay strong instead of weak, <br />My future looks sublime, <br />The future me, that's what I seek, <br />The better me in time! <br /> <br /> <br />Denis Martindale, copyright September 2014.<br /><br />Denis Martindale<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/stoptober/
