A good neighbor way back when <br />Wasn't so very hard to find <br />They shone like a rare jewel <br />And was only one of a kind <br />Gathered together as a family <br />Were united in love and peace <br />Sat and sung under an old oak tree <br />Laughter never seeming to cease <br />Some gave freely of their bounty <br />What their Father had to bestow <br />Shared what was in their garden <br />Whatever they were able to grow <br />Life wasn't always a bed of roses <br />Was sometimes up and at times down <br />Had no time to look down their noses <br />Lived only where love and peace abound <br />When time of heartaches and sorrow nears <br />Bowing of heads and shedding of tears <br />Bounded together as if under one roof <br />In a bond of love was their only proof<br /><br />Patricia Grantham<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/under-one-roof/
