Today is yet another October 2! <br />The calender says it all- <br />It is holiday in India. <br /> <br />It is Gandhi`s birthday <br />He is dead and therefore <br />Immortal today. <br /> <br />We have thrown ourselves into <br />An oblivion that suits us best <br />And the image of our Gandhi flickers! <br /> <br />We have distanced ourselves from <br />The pathways he showed us <br />And he appears to have been deserted on those tracks! <br /> <br />We still paint the faces of the anti Gandhis <br />As the the portrait of the liberator of India <br />Fades on the original walls of India. <br /> <br />We in India live a life of excesses <br />Everything in excess! <br />A life bereft of that mental glow. <br /> <br />We live for no other reason than begetting off springs <br />And still dare to forget <br />Those who lived and died for a cause. <br /> <br />On this October 2 <br />I appeal to my Indian PH friends <br />To begin to feel for the missing Gandhi. <br /> <br />Let us once more install him <br />On the pedestal of the FIVE finest persons <br />Ever lived in this planet in retrospection!<br /><br />M.D Dinesh Nair<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/gandhi-re-remembered/
