The seeds of change are being planted in Chile.<br/> <br />The first batch of medicial marijuana is being cultivated outside Santiago with the aim of alleviating pain for some 200 cancer patients.<br/> <br />Esmeralda Lopez will be one of them.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) ESMERALDA LOPEZ, BREAST CANCER PATIENT, SAYING:<br/> <br />"What they are going to produce is a cannabis oil which is administered orally in a spray form and that is what is going to alleviate the pain."<br/> <br />The project is run by alternative medicine organization the Daya Foundation.<br/> <br />The seeds, imported from the Netherlands, will grow into plants set for harvest in April of 2015
