Monkey Mind <br />- - - - - - - - - - <br />The sun rises and sets <br />Into rain turn clouds <br />Born are the plants <br />Some to become trees <br />And some to die soon <br />They abide by rules <br />Rules of universe <br />Trusting and accepting <br />That whatever happens <br />Happens for the highest good <br /> <br />But the funny mind <br />Thinks thoughts infinite <br />In musing lonely <br />They drift so swift <br />Of potential rewards <br />Of missed opportunities <br />Of future actions and so on <br /> <br />Oh, I wish <br />I were richer <br />I were healthier <br />I were more beautiful <br />I were more knowledgeable <br />Forgetting to respect ourselves <br />Forgetting to be contented <br />With whatever we have <br />Hence a sense of lack we experience <br />Not realizing our wholeness <br /> <br />Into as many pieces as possible <br />We can break a container of glass <br />But the same innate nature <br />To which each piece belongs <br />Likewise each of us <br />Is one of those pieces <br />That belongs to this perfect universe <br /> <br />Slowing down the restless mind <br />Can help realize the wholeness of being <br />Mindfulness stills the mind <br />Deepens our clarity <br />Calms our anxieties <br />Thereby enhancing confidence <br />By taming our monkey mind<br /><br />DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/monkey-mind-2/
