In all my layered light <br />The beam falls to your face <br />At dawn the day breaks open <br />Illuminating what I never knew before <br />Till there was you <br /> <br />Through Autumn trees that tower <br />Further than my eyes can stare <br />The bouncing twists of streaming sun <br />Land on your shoulders <br />Where I can rest my thoughts <br /> <br />Comes time for the painted horizon <br />To be blessed and blanketed, our day done <br />By the long hand light <br />That holds the mountain as our backdrop <br />While we light our tabletop candles <br /> <br />Arrives the moon, her pretty face <br />Of pearlized silver strung with a smile <br />The night sky sequined, laced with stars <br />As sparks lift from our fire <br />Flecks of fireworks frame your smile <br />And I seek shelter in it's glow <br /> <br />Then tired, turn my lazy laughter <br />To place upon your pillow <br />Outside the world slips into shadow <br />But I sleep in the light of your touch <br />And dream of trickling comet's tails <br />That brought your shine to mine<br /><br />Susan Lacovara<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/in-all-my-layered-light/
