the half moon shone like a pale white bone
at the bottom of a cloudy pool.
her cool light soothingly enticing me
to leave my dreams.
i arose like a mist on the warmth of a kiss,
as i hearkened to her call.
the wall of night came falling down;
a castle made of sand.

obsidian to alabaster,
fantasy to muse,
fledgling neophyte or master,
what have i to lose?

the moon waxed full, her familiar pull
drew me into her circle of light.
her ivory touch, bright satin fingers
gesturing to the dawn.
i awoke to partake of the nectar of her thoughts,
as she brought me beyond my own mind.
her sweet intoxication lasting
well into the day.

obsidian to alabaster,
fantasy to muse,
fledgling neophyte or master,
what have i to lose?

the dark moon comes like a silent drum
keeping rhythm without making a sound.
her black skies intimately filling me
with mystery.
kissed by the night like a lullabye bright,
i fall deeper into dreams.
where she sings to me of subtle things,
where crazy wisdom reigns.

ivory to ebony,
fantasy to will,
roaming full-blown fool or empress,
either way a thrill.

the moon reappears, a fine silver hair
on the black velvet background of night.
her soft light dissing me with whispers
of her awesome power.
i arise to the task doing all that she asks
in her taciturn quieting way.
in rapt surrender i become her promise
and her curse.

obsidian to alabaster,
fantasy to muse,
flegling neophyte or master
what have i to lose?

moon batchelder

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/powered-by-the-moon/
