Republicans have seized control of the U.S. Senate.<br /> <br />The party rolled up big victories in Tuesday's midterm elections...<br /> <br />...including Mitch McConnell in Kentucky, who will now replace Democrat Harry Reid as Senate majority leader.<br /> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (English) SENATOR MITCH MCCONNELL SAYING:<br /> <br />"Friends this experiment with big government has lasted long enough. Its time to go in a new direction."<br /> <br />Republican Senate candidates also picked up Democratic seats in Montana, Colorado, West Virginia, South Dakota and Arkansas.<br /> <br />Before the night began, Republicans needed to gain six seats in order to take over the 100-member Senate.<br /> <br />The party will now have a majority in both chambers of Congress for the first time since elections in 2006.<br /> <br />For President Obama, Tuesday's results will complicate his remaining two years in office...<br /> <br />...forcing him to scale back his legislative agenda.<br /> <br />Republicans will also be under pressure to show they're capable of
