She left me when the moon came out <br />and the stars were in the sky. <br />She left me when the moon came out <br />and never told me why? <br />At night I'd sit out in the dark <br />to wait for her return. <br />At night I'd sit out in the dark <br />and watch the starlight burn. <br /> <br />It burned into my wakefulness <br />and so I could not sleep. <br />It burned into my consciousness <br />and in my brain did creep <br />this hollow feeling that does not leave. <br />It never goes away. <br />This hollow feeling that makes me grieve <br />always seems to stay. <br /> <br />And so each night I sit outside <br />and wait for the moon to shine. <br />I pray for the stars to bring her back <br />so once again she's mine.<br /><br />Edwina Reizer<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/darkened-hope/
