In this change of season evening
Cinderella has directed me,
''Dear lover! Go climb that Great Oak Tree
and fetch me back, a sprig of mistletoe! won't you please''

'Anything for you dear! '
As well we both understood the ritual.

Ascended I that living being
The leafless, Great Oak Tree
And climbing high, there caught I
The Oaks soul - A sprig of mistletoe!

Below me, there stood Cinderella:
My mythological fairy tale wonder
I had come to trust in

Her beauty shining on this change of season evening
Well matched, she did, the Sunset's afterglow -
Later tonight, I'd kiss her, under the seeded mistletoe.

© Calac

Chris Lane

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/cinderella-and-the-mistletoe-in-cinderella-i-we-trust/
