I’m writing here
business-dressed
clicking on a plastic keyboard
emotionless face

Writing poetry has become a hollow act
buried in binary information
full of 0’s and 1’s
I no longer pen-scratch
bad lines
-I click “delete, ” they’re gone
No trace of them
of process
the aches, the could-have been lines

But I want feverishly
to smash this screen
To reach w/ my hands to you
past your wires & chips
where you hide
beyond your 0’s and 1’s
and grab
Your Skin!
to feel the evaporating heat from your writing
after your fingers lift
the smudge of the passing hand
that kisses the page with dampness as it leaves

Chat room virtual lives
virtual romance
We greet strangers online
but walk past neighbors
not knowing who they are
Flinging could-have-been friendships
for virtual kisses and make-believe lives

The internet is a Cold Hell
I’m not made for the internet
w/ pseudo-relationships and pseudo-sex and pseudo-ppl who’ve lost their lives
I’m tempted to scratch your eyes out
so you can see me here
not look for me online.

I own no TV out of protest
I threw it out yrs ago
Frustrated at the lies
If we threw out our TV and internet we’d find
we have so much more time
Thousands of half-hour units
not watching Reality Shows
But spent in your arms

Alina Gavrila

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/10001110-binary-poem-trying-to-break-free/
