Somali tears <br /> <br />Hungry blinded in cold tortured silence <br />Face hers contorts deformed by pain unvaried <br />Shuffling when all around her run briskly hence <br />Her rich memory unfolds fields of measured strain <br />Every step forward ploughs deep furrows on her face <br />Aged multiple fold before arrival this dirtied earth <br />Tears ceaseless feed streams flooding busy wet lakes <br />Anguished terrain her soul to liberty flies it dares <br />Covering acreage far afield often times sea east Red <br />Cavorts sick stillness that is Ethiopia at its worst <br />Grim oiled tales make the Sudan in the west new heaven <br />Hope grain colors Kenya envy's gold top end of the world <br />Blood encrusted dungeons darkened in false dawn of Eritrea <br />Finest and rarest of golden dreams crest of left treasures <br />Would simply dare drown in ruined filth that is Zimbabwe <br />Worse than self for wear but pure gold to tired eyes hers.<br /><br />christopher veremu<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/somali-tears/
