Of all the strange and mystic lands <br />There is none like the desert sands <br />Where dancing heat waves thrust glare <br />on sage, mesquite and prickly pear. Remotely buzzards circle high <br />A menace in the brassy sky <br />And lizards, snakes are living things; <br />Cicada in the greasewood sings. The dawns spread pastels with their charms <br />On Joshua's contorted arms; <br />The desert-grandeurs awe imbue............. <br />This sun-parched earth has beauty, too! When I'm Away From You Night shadows make me lonely <br />and I've found it's true, <br />that I never feel quite happy <br />When I'm away from you. The skies above, so cold and dreary <br />take on their darkest hue <br />and cast a gloom within my heart <br />When I'm away from you A sense of loss prevails the day <br />and clings the whole night thru, <br />my empty arms stretch out in vain <br />When I'm away from you.
