First I had a Mother-in-law. <br /> Then there were five brothers-in-law. <br /> Those were followed quickly with three sisters-in-law. <br /> Then came the nieces and nephews-in-law. <br /> My husbands cousins, aunts and uncles became more in-laws <br /> Fortunately, none of them were outlaws. <br /> I learned to love them one and all, those in-laws. <br /> Not that we always agreed, <br /> But, normal life leaves lots of different needs. <br /> Now I'm a Mother-in-law, <br /> My husband a Father-in-law, <br /> To a son-in-law. <br /> Best of all, <br /> Is our grandson, by law. <br /> How I miss the in-laws who are now gone, <br /> No longer with us where they belong. <br /> So many tragedies we have faced. <br /> But, then a new joy comes along in it's place. <br /> I miss my own family members who're gone, <br /> My Dad, and sister for so long, <br /> The aunts, uncles, and cousisn, who have passed away <br /> Remain in my heart and will till my dying day. <br /> But in-laws we are and in-laws we'll be now, <br /> And fullfill those needs the very best we know how!<br /><br />Catherine Ruedy<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/in-laws/
