Once a week I go to Battery Park <br /> To recharge my life's batteries; <br /> I watch the ripples in the water <br /> Made by the tugboats pulling their cargo. <br /> The many ripples remind me <br /> Of the city and its multi-ethnic background; <br /> A panorama of life on the subway <br /> As I travel on my way to work. <br /> Since my retirement, I journey not to toil <br /> But rather find myself by the riverside, <br /> Relaxing and energizing my thoughts <br /> As I observe, the ripples in the water.<br /><br />Hugh D.
