To think that I had lost my way and let my heart grow cold, <br />Such that I rarely said, 'Hooray! ' nor thought of being bold! <br />My life was like an empty cup with cobwebs on the side! <br />My soul in need of topping up... No shepherd as a guide... <br /> <br />What use were stars? They gave no calm. What use were sun and moon? <br />They could not keep me safe from harm or grant me wish or boon! <br />What use were mountains, forests, lakes? While scenery can soothe <br />Lord Jesus knows of Man's heartaches and knows how to improve... <br /> <br />Outside the door each day He stood as patient as the snail... <br />The Noble Nazarene who would succeed where others fail... <br />For only He was good enough to serve God to the end... <br />Yes, only He, the King of Love, forgives and stays a friend... <br /> <br />I'd checked the Gospels through and through! I tried to understand! <br />The door was open! Born anew!
