Within the words you speak, <br />softly whispering from behind your mask. <br />Soothing lost syllables calling me out, <br />from this ocean of hopelessness and guilt. <br /> <br />Within the words that you pen, <br />scripting my life one sentence at a time. <br />Telling my shadowy secrets to all we know, <br />uncovering the weakness we share. <br /> <br />Within the words of your poems, <br />each phrase dancing to an aria locked my head. <br />A melody, which reminds of old lies, <br />pretending it is for someone else. <br /> <br />Within the words sculpted by your hands, <br />for all to see, but not to understand. <br />White slender fingers shaping a day in the life, <br />when no other could see past this Herculean wall. <br /> <br />Within all these things you touch me, <br />from the inside out. <br />Telling me everything is better now, <br />giving me courage and strength. <br /> <br />As each painful day goes by, <br />I read your words; hear your voice. <br />Letting it penetrate this heavy armor, <br />allowing myself to float to the surface.<br /><br />Gary Scott Gebert<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/floating-to-the-surface/
