The demolition crews are out, <br />And twice this week, I saw <br />Crunching into brick and steel, <br />A huge crane's T-rex maw. <br /> <br />And, as God speaks through symbols <br />That mirror truths within, <br />The jaws of mighty Shiva <br />Are what I I *feel* I've seen, <br /> <br />A vision forged in brick and steel <br />For me to contemplate <br />Processes of death and birth <br />Directly immanent. <br /> <br />Tomorrow there'll be rubble <br />Where the building stood today. <br />And after that, some trucks will come <br />And haul the stuff away. <br /> <br />Then the construction men will come. <br />A scaffold will arise. <br />Then, in a year, the opening <br />Of some new enterprise. <br /> <br />The skyline of the mind <br />Adjusts to what we see. <br />I'll scarce be able to recall <br />The way it used to be.<br /><br />Max Reif<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/demolition-2/
