I look in the mirror at the face I see
It’s ugly and stares back at me
Fiery eyed broken and bruised
Hurting all over and emotionally confused
Her heads pounds, hits and bangs
Like the forceful power of his cruel hands
It’s not his fault, she weeps but knows
He is to blame for all the blows
Broken down, teary eyed in hell
She’ll lie in piece as we wish her well
Then she smiles effortlessly with hope
That someone will realise she can’t cope
Under appreciated, curled up in bed
When he comes home he’ll find her dead
I leave the mirror and lie there still
To live my life, I have lost the will
I lie as I die the tears that I choke
Don’t wake up tomorrow, I pray, I hope

Emily Moore

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/victim-of-life/
