Upon this holy Cross of wood, <br />The Savior Jesus Christ was crucified! <br />He died for sins of all mankind: <br />Heaven to men can’t be denied. <br /> <br />Upon this holy site there stood <br />The holy Cross that bore the Redeemer; <br />He suffered unto death for not his faults, <br />Obeying what His father told! <br /> <br />Upon this holy land there walked <br />A man called Jesus, Son of God; <br />He showed the world that love is prime <br />And forgiveness is greater than the rod! <br /> <br />Upon this holy mount of Calvary, <br />Fell Jesus thrice, carrying his heavy Cross; <br />They whipped and smote on his face, dragging him, <br />Scarcely clothed, barefooted because <br />He spoke in parables about a world, <br />From which He came and reigned as King <br />Of Kings and Lord of Lords! <br /> <br />And Jesus was his name! <br />He’d come a second time in glory, not in shame; <br />And take the Righteous back from whence He came, <br />And throw all devils/wicked souls to Hell- <br />The Fire none can tame! <br /> <br />Copyright by Dr John Celes <br />12-14-2004<br /><br />Dr John Celes<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/upon-this-holy-cross/
