J <br />You know my life began in England <br />I was born in Isleworth <br />Whilst Mum and Dad were on Holiday <br />Mum decided to give birth <br />S <br />England is so far away, <br />From Alabama it's true, <br />Was born in Florence, after Thanksgiving, <br />Some 2 months after you. <br />J <br />Ooh that makes me 10 years older <br />The same as my brother Paul <br />He was born in Africa because <br />We moved there when I was small <br />S <br />JW Powell for elementary, <br />Forest Hills for middle school <br />Then to Bradshaw for the High one <br />Never had a swimming pool <br />J <br />Oh no! not in Africa <br />Most homes have a swimming pool <br />You have to, in that boiling heat <br />It’s the best way to stay cool <br />S <br />But Alabama is like Africa too, <br />Both start with an 'A' and their hot, <br />But I finally did escape from there, <br />And sorry, I am not. <br />J <br />We had a baboon called Yarpee <br />He was only nice to me <br />If my sister went too close to him <br />He’d bite and she would flee <br />Screaming to my mother <br />Who’d have to calm her tears <br />Yarpee died when war broke out <br />Which brought us all to tears. <br />S <br />Well all we had <br />Were dogs and cats, <br />One small rabbit too, <br />Some were fat, <br />And some were small, <br />Junie, Barney, Sherman too <br />How I loved them all. <br />J <br />While you played with your rabbit <br />I rode on my horse <br />Whilst you played with your dogs and cats <br />I was chasing cows of course <br />So although we grew up differently <br />So much alike are we <br />Two good friends bound together <br />In friendship and poetry <br /> <br />From The Pendulum Swings collection <br />Of <br />Sandra Osborne and Janice m Pickett<br /><br />Sandra Osborne<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/two-peas-in-a-potato-skin/
