The star how bright you are.
I see you at night when it’s really dark.
You give me hope when I feel I just might fall.
The summer time, springtime, wintertime,
and even in the fall you are always above.
What is it that makes you shine, that brings sparkles to my eyes?
You are the star I wish upon,
every moment I stare at you. The second you appear,
and the next you disappear.
I know it’s weird, but you make me feel no fear.
If everyone would take the time to look at you,
they might realize the beauty in you.
The nights are yours; you have a big family,
because I see billions more.
I’m not the only one that sees you as something more than a star.
I think millions watch you,
but just don’t notice how beautiful you really are.
Yes, you don’t come down, to say hello.
Yet you mean a lot to us,
because some believe you just might
make their wish come true.

Felix Lugo

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-star-i-wish-upon/
