When a touch of a hand <br />In the calm of the night <br />Would give you a peace <br />That would lull you to sleep <br />Now you lie awake in your bed <br />Waiting in vain, for the touch of a hand <br />That lulled you to sleep, as a child <br />Although you grew into a man <br />You still needed the tender hand <br />Of a woman to stroke you <br />And make you feel so warm inside <br />So very warm, like a fire in a forest <br />In the winter of time <br />Mother loved the lilly so white <br />As white as the snow, that lay on the vine <br />She bathed your young body, with warm clear water <br />And annointed your body with an oil <br />Sang you a song, a lullabye song <br />That took you to the land of dreams <br />Where you would play with lions <br />And wrestle bears, run across clouds in the sky <br />You could picture a giant hand <br />That made you feel, as warm as a glove <br />And you would hug the mother you loved <br />You didn't need a blanket, for in your dream <br />You held the hand that belong, to the mother you loved<br /><br />Allan James Saywell<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/touch-of-a-hand/
