The beauty of a warm sultry, sunny day <br />Glad to be alive, i rested my ample rump <br />On the first available park bench and <br />Gazed at the beauty of a cybidium orchids <br />Hot pink in colour, open in all it's glory <br />To reveal it's stigmatic surface <br />Resting on the labellium lip <br />Surrounded by two petals, mounted by <br />The dorsal sepal, the long green stem <br />Running down to rest against <br />A half bottle of sherry, and a black haired head <br />Wait a minute, you drunk again paddy <br />You bloody Irish, pissed all the time <br />Lying in the beautiful orchids <br />And i say goodnight, sweet drunk <br />Flights of angels, sing you to sleep<br /><br />Allan James Saywell<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-irish-and-the-orchids/
