At first I saw <br />A mass of crosses and lichen stained Angels <br />Lambs and tombstones <br /> <br />It was an old burial ground <br />And walking it took all afternoon <br />It was quiet, warm and the drone of insects <br />turned it into a sleepy haven <br /> <br />I stood and read the epitaphs And sadly realized how young they died <br />I stood where mourners wept and the sad caskets were lowered <br />The quiet and the simplicity of death - <br />It washed over me <br />And I found peace at last.<br /><br />willow moon pearce<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/old-graveyard/
