As I look down on the world <br />I see myself more clearly <br />Everything I achieved and nearly <br />Everything I fought for all seems small now <br />Everything I sought for dearly <br />And conflicts of the bitter past <br />Cast in the bitter seeds of pain <br />Wither and die in the suns cleansing heat <br />As I look down on the world <br />Brother you and I look the same <br />All my excuses seem lame <br />All my bitterness my shame <br />Came left and went <br />All my spent time brooding <br />I realise that it was a waste <br />I need to move on with haste <br />I can be no one but myself <br />My dreams are my wealth <br />But when I let others define me <br />Clearly nothing can I be <br />And the things I see are not my own <br />I stand alone with just the clothes on my back <br />Thirsting for all that I lack <br />But can never have <br />And don’t really need <br />I alone hold the key <br />To be freed from this maze of rights and wrongs <br />If only I could see the big picture all the time and be strong<br /><br />Daniel Hooks<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/as-i-look-down-on-the-world/
