Oh, that the common man would grow a brain, <br />to see and hear, digest official fare. <br />No rhyme or reason and 'I do not care', <br />mankind, the victim of those crafty devils. <br />As all integrity has sunk with the big ship <br />the stench of treason now pervades on many levels. <br />It is as if we'd signed up for a happy trip <br />into the darkness of uncertainty and death, <br />leaving behind compassion and our human face <br />and flying high above the clouds with dwindling breath. <br />As in this ah, so modern and pathetic race <br />we've managed to destroy the goodness of our food <br />and lifted onto pedestals of golden recognition <br />those managers of chemicals who influence our mood <br />and tell us that society is ill, but in remission. <br /> <br />And to the Reaper we shall say 'we welcome you today', <br />we've surely failed the basic test of conscious living, <br />'so, help yourself and have a feast, do take us all away. <br />We are devoid of reason now and way beyond Thanksgiving.'<br /><br />Herbert Nehrlich<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/just-thoughts/
