When the sun is up above, <br />My soul explodes with so much love <br />And when its rays beat down on me, <br />My spirits soar out of their tree <br />and Jack jumps up out of his box, <br />And bears make friends with Goldilocks <br />And all that's good is possible - <br />What's deep and wet is crossable. <br /> <br />And right 'bout then I realise <br />Like lightning striking in my eyes <br />Leda's swan without disguise <br />('It's not a swan, surprise, surprise, <br />That's nestling here betwixt my thighs! ' <br />Said Leda. What I've realised <br />Is Life's OK, it's rather nice, <br />You might just say it's groovy. <br />Life it adds a touch of spice <br />Without it nothing moves me. <br />And again and again and again and again <br />And again and a few more times - <br />What was it now? - I had it then - <br />I only know it rhymes. <br /> <br />Ah! <br /> <br />I realise that life is all I've <br />Fantasised and what is more, I've <br />Realised that Life really is <br />That ultimate Fabulous Consumable Item <br />That is just so utterly, utterly precious <br />That it leads us to the inevitable conclusion <br />That - well, what can you say? - <br />That each moment of each day <br />That you live on this earth <br />That revolves at such speed <br />That you would not believe <br />That it were so (were it not so <br />That it's down in such books <br />That are covered in dust <br />That WILL settle in libraries <br />THAT quickly on those books <br />That no-one ever reads) <br />Is special. <br /> <br />Which brings me rather neatly to <br />What else I've realised. <br />And that is: That Life is too <br />Short to treat one second of it <br />As though it were anything but your last. <br /> <br />Go ahead - suck out the juice! <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />©2005 Jon Lloyd<br /><br />Jon Lloyd<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/an-agnostic-s-road-to-damascus/
