I could see a unique gleam on my father’s face; <br />It was shining like a star, shining like hay. <br />But what for was he happy? <br />He was happy coz it was fathers’ day. <br /> <br /> <br />Although I had presented him a small painted pot; <br />But for him, a gift from his own son meant a lot. <br />He smiled at me and thanked me; <br />And I closed my eyes as I thanked the Almighty. <br />I thanked Him for giving me such a father; <br />Who gives me love and affection; <br />Who teaches me to attain contentment and satisfaction. <br /> <br /> <br />A father is a father; he may be rich or poor. <br />But every father in the world is rich; <br />Rich by his heart; <br />Rich by his emotions towards his family; <br />Loving to his child, just as my father is to me. <br /> <br /> <br />And when I opened my eyes and started to blink; <br />A horrifying thought struck me and said, “Think! ” <br />Think of those children who don’t have Dads; <br />Their lives are difficult and sad. <br />I prayed for those fledgelings like children who don’t have fathers to teach them how to fly; <br />They weep, they shout for their fathers, but He doesn’t seem to hear their cry. <br /> <br /> <br />I left aside this thought and lay on bed as; <br />I thought of my father whose face was shining like a star today. <br />Just because I had given him a gift on fathers’ day.<br /><br />Swapan Deep Singh<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/fathers-day-2/
