Troubled life leaves troubled mind, <br />Sleep the only answer I can find. <br />Sleep brings ignorance, with that comes bliss, <br />Past caring what you miss. <br /> <br />The truth is, though; it never stops churning, <br />Images, memories, and feelings burning <br />inside your head, branding your brain, <br />Even in sleep you feel the pain. <br /> <br />Laying down, resting your head, <br />Allows emotions which you thought were dead <br />to creep up, stalk you through the night <br />A sheet of darkness in which there is no light. <br /> <br />Betrayal, hurt, anger and sadness, <br />Entwined with loneliness, shame and madness. <br />Haunting, taunting, torturing you, <br />There’s no escape, no matter what you do. <br /> <br />I see in your eyes, you’re hiding tears, <br />I hear the heart, that no one else hears. <br />It screams in pain, I hear it weep, <br />It cries and dies even when you sleep. <br /> <br />Torn apart and driven to despair, <br />Driven away and no one cares. <br />Forget apologies, thanks and goodbyes, <br />It will go away this time when you close your eyes.<br /><br />Dan Brown<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/does-it-go-away-when-you-close-your-eyes/
