On days like these there is no other song <br />just the soft duet of gull and sea <br />no perfume sweeter than the scent <br />of salt upon the warm gentle breeze <br /> <br />On days like these Neptune’s breast <br />sings a gentle song of peace, and <br />the sun smiles fondly upon his slumber <br />clouds float by on a canopy of Azure <br /> <br />On day’s like these there is no land <br />The world holds only that which we see <br />No Gods save the sun, moon and sea <br />And the benediction of the wind <br /> <br />On days like these all worries are becalmed <br />all ills hidden across the circling horizon <br />all angers and hatred held at bay <br />by the blue salt vastness beneath our bows <br /> <br />Yet my head tells me of the falseness <br />working upon my heart and eyes <br />That with the night, dark clouds will gather <br />bringing the reality of the horizon’s storms <br /> <br />but oh with all my heart I dearly wish <br />that I could share with all who breath <br />the wonderful falseness that holds me <br />as I live through days like these<br /><br />Bill Mitton<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/days-like-these/
