Light glimmers off the gold nib
of my fountain pen
dances 'cross my eyes:
lightning in miniature.
Light & energy all the same
measured by quanta
or ('neath th'atomic)
by traces of quarks
charmed particles...
Black ink seems too serious
too stark 'gainst
bright, white paper.
Words, random letters:
wonder of language & perception.
Minds seek order
even in random flashes of light:
signals from other dimensions
worlds beyond reach
just far enough we can't touch them, ever...
Holographic reality dances
in a mirror of light
spins galaxies dancing
'gainst a sea of blackness
filled with spectra
beyond our sight.
I close my eyes & meditate
sensing vastness between thoughts:
Each thought looms
giant-like then moves away
with doppler shift
leaving a space, not to be filled but felt.
A space wherein we meet
the Self we truly are,
becoming Light
our soul, a star.

(Copyright 1/10/2006)

Hugh Cobb

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-space-between-thoughts/
