I’ve never heard your voice nor seen <br />Your face or felt your touch but yet <br />I feel I know you better than <br />I know my sister or my brother. <br />Perhaps because we are so far <br />Apart the normal rules don’t hold: <br />We can relax and be ourselves — <br />No need to raise the usual <br />Defensive barriers and fences. <br />Instead we share our inner thoughts <br />As though confiding to a diary. <br />If either one is feeling blue <br />There’ll be no lack of sympathy. <br />We know each other’s tastes and sense <br />Of humour: you may not hear me laugh <br />Nor see me smile but yet I do, <br />It’s great to share a joke and have <br />A laugh, but best of all I like <br />To pass the time in friendly chat <br />With you.
