You know how God frowns on lying – bearing false witness and all that?
Well, sometimes lying is good, don’t you think? For example, if the

Nazis came knocking on your door asking if a Jew was in your house,
you wouldn’t tell them the truth about the Jew hiding in your basement,

would you? Well, maybe YOU would since you think the heathen Jew
would be doomed to Hell anyway. So let’s think of a different example.

Okay, say you encounter a severely crippled wheelchair-bound girl. If I
thought she looked pathetic, there’s no way I would say that to her face.

But if Jesus encountered her, he might feel he had to be truthful at all
times no matter what. At first, he would probably dance around the

subject and distract her with some holy water or something. But if she
asked, “Hey Jesus, how do I look? ” and he blurted out that she looked

really repulsive, I think that would be wrong. And I would feel obliged
to tell him right then and there that he was being cold-hearted. Then

again, he’s only human so you’d have to cut him some slack. I mean,
maybe he’d had a hard night and just wasn’t thinking straight.

Professor Poetry Hound

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/lying-is-good/
