Our day will come, <br />Of this I will report, <br />If you don't like the election results, <br />Just take it to court. <br /> <br />Oh, yes, and court will do, <br />If not one, <br />Try two. <br /> <br />Maybe a judge will offer a stay, <br />Overturn the election, <br />And save the day. <br /> <br />The only thing that we forgot, <br />What happened to the voter's voice <br />In all of this? <br /> <br />Hanging Chads, <br />Punch card machines, <br />Paper Ballots, <br />Voting machines, <br /> <br />It's all the same, <br />Or different, <br />If we don't get what we want <br />We just forget it! <br /> <br />Now, what examples we must be, <br />For all the world to see. <br /> <br />For the next election, <br />I have a great selection, <br />Let's place the vote, <br />In the middle of the People's Court. <br /> <br />If that wouldn't do, <br />How about Judge Judy. <br />Doesn't it matter if we the voters do our duty? <br /> <br />Some how we have lost sight in the greatest <br />Gift of all. <br />We are a republic, <br />We are not a democracy, <br />We run by rules, <br />And the rules made us free, <br />If we run elections by the court, <br />We stand to loose our freedom. <br />And our ability to vote. <br /> <br />Next time you go into that voting booth, <br />Think twice on the people that you choose. <br /> <br />It's important in this free land, <br />To insure that remain, <br />In the land of the free and not <br />The home of the insane.<br /><br />Nadalia Bagratuni<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/our-day-will-come/
