As I gaze back upon my life <br />as I recall when I was young <br />remember things I said and done <br />when I was less afraid <br />with all the times that I lived through <br />and all the people I once knew <br />I realise the way I grew <br />the way I am today <br /> <br />The days were hard the winters cold <br />with ragged clothes and shoes well worn <br />your mouth was hungry for some food <br />that sometimes never came <br />I struggled through the leaner years <br />though never once did shed a tear <br />was happy in my innocence <br />and loved my childhood dreams <br /> <br />I never thought that I was poor <br />the poverty of youth is pure <br />it's growing up that makes unsure <br />the way lifes meant to be <br />the many friends I left behind <br />I keep their memorys alive <br />and guard them deeply in my mind <br />it's just my history.<br /><br />Charles M.
