One voice, one breath against the wind, <br />Awed by the fragile life within. <br />T’is humbling who we really are, <br />Amazed we made it safe this far, <br />Then look and see where we began, <br />Like ants we march to build again. <br />From dust we were, to dust we go, <br />A tiny spark that few will know. <br />That measured in the scheme of things, <br />What counts is not what we can bring. <br />Beyond our insignificant strife, <br />Exists a God to grant us life. <br />And not to live in numbered days, <br />An empty life of empty ways. <br />But life beyond all human powers, <br />Beyond our wealth and human towers. <br />The greatest we could ever achieve, <br />Not what we do, but what we believe. <br />This voice, this breath against the wind, <br />Is awed by the fragile life within. <br />Now knows that one much greater than me, <br />Snatched me from death and set me free. <br /> <br />10/17/05<br /><br />Gary Bryson<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/one-breath-against-the-wind/
