This silent ache <br />scares me <br />I should <br />feel happiness <br />to know <br />we have until <br />forever <br />But <br />forever <br /> scares me <br />What happens <br />after forever <br />Time <br />is zipping by <br />so fast <br />and out of control <br />I can't <br />slow it down <br />Have you <br />ever stood <br />next to <br />a subway car <br />moving <br />at top speed <br />and want <br />to stop it <br />with your <br />bare hands <br />I don't think <br />it can be done <br />But <br />time <br />that's more <br />dangerous than <br />a moving subway <br />because <br />we can't <br />touch time <br />we can't <br />jump in <br />and slam <br />on the brakes <br />I never thought <br />the day <br />would come <br />where forever <br />just doesn't seem <br />long enough <br />But <br />that day <br />is here <br />We <br />will be <br />together <br />forever <br />I know this <br />Please ignore <br />the fat tears <br />that race <br />down my cheeks <br />as you say <br />we'll be together <br />forever.<br /><br />Mary Nagy<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/racing-towards-forever/
