When you were close to me, <br />We walked and breathed as a single soul, <br />Mutual love and affection was in our hearts, <br />Your smile and your presence made my days. <br /> <br />No poems or love lyrics came to my mind, <br />I never dreamt of building a love monument or a shrine, <br />Whenever I presented you with fresh garden rose, <br />The happiness and smile on your face stole my heart. <br /> <br />When you used to be away to your family and friends, <br />I would count days and nights for your return, <br />A few minutes of phone conversations used to make my day, <br />And finally when you came, our hearts and bodies used to reunite in one. <br /> <br />Now when you are gone so far away, <br />I envision you every minute with my poems and thoughts, <br />The monument I have built in my heart, <br />Is prettier than the marble domed wonder of the world. <br /> <br />You are so far away, but you feel so close to me, <br />I can smell the fragrance of your beautiful smile. <br />Sadly I miss your presence every day, <br />But it is a nice feeling to be so close even you are so far away.<br /><br />Jay P Narain<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/so-close-but-so-far-away/
