We waited to be saved <br />and made sure <br />that every living thing <br />we came across <br />we showered it <br />with love and peace <br />and anything that makes <br />White angels sing <br />and God clap for more <br />and faith showed off a little leg. <br />The drought was over <br />and earth replenished itself <br />with a long cold <br />glass of draft beer. <br />Hunger became morbidly obese. <br />The insane became sound <br />and poor broken people <br />saw the light <br />and they were healed. <br />The meaning of life <br />Was found inside <br />a fortune cookie <br />and we read it <br />over and over again. <br />A perfumed rain <br />became a morning ritual <br />of turning things <br />becoming truth <br />So winners did <br />not need losers anymore <br />To feel like winners <br />because that game was over <br />Like death & agony <br />It was obsolete <br />So the old made love again <br />Under the neon stars <br />Dreams were on video <br />For all to open and see <br />Jealousy lost fear and the path <br />That was once quicksand <br />Became guiding crystal <br />And nothing was lost or thrown <br />Away for death was pro-life <br />We sighed at the times <br />for peace was our souls <br />And we were all healed<br /><br />Charles Lara<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/and-we-were-healed/
