The old Woolworths store <br />was looking quite bleak <br />with its curved wooden windows <br />and slush in the street <br />and my Austin A 40 <br />was struggling for heat <br />as I waited for you <br />where we said we would meet <br /> <br />The church clock chimed seven <br />ten minutes ago <br />you hadn't arrived <br />and I thought I should go <br />then from a side steet <br />you emerged with a man <br />who needed a lift <br />to your dinner and dance <br /> <br />He said 'Hi I'm Jim <br />I hope it's no fuss' <br />'Claire has just told me <br />you met on the bus' <br />'And since I was going <br />and buses were late' <br />'If you took me as well <br />it would really be great' <br /> <br />It felt rather strange <br />you both in the back seat <br />as he rubbed his hands <br />you brushed snow off your feet <br />you asked 'when it's over <br />if I'd take you back home' <br />'as you know my name's Claire' <br />'what's your name'?
