Darkness creeps in on wings of stealth, <br />Night times aim not yet complete, <br />Shrouding all he sees as wealth, <br />Spreading out his sombre sheet. <br /> <br />Then the moon with glowing face, <br />Illuminates our earthly stage, <br />And lights the outer realms of space, <br />Releasing moonbeams from their cage. <br /> <br />His watchful eye is upon us all, <br />He's seen this earth through countless days, <br />And as the twilight starts to fall, <br />He displays glimmering gentle rays. <br /> <br />Smiling now he shines so bright, <br />Giving his all, as best he can, <br />Sweetening for us the lonely night, <br />As God had planned, for earthbound man. <br /> <br />© Ernestine Northover<br /><br />Ernestine Northover<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/his-watchful-eye/
