One day my Nanna said to me <br />she'd seen an angel in a tree <br />determined I to see it too <br />but wasn't quite sure what to do. <br /> <br />Out in the garden skip five steps <br />as a feline stealthily crept <br />over the grass and bird bath past <br />vegetable patch, up winding path. <br /> <br />A glint of white, a wing in view? <br />Simply was too good to be true! <br />Eye looked about and thought I saw <br />but couldn't spot it anymore. <br /> <br />The day was sunshine bright and blue <br />from childhood such a perfect view <br />and far off Grandad with his spade <br />the memory will never fade. <br /> <br />Then Peter cat with paw and claw <br />had put an end to that for sure! <br />Bending only to pat his head <br />drew blood which was terrible red! <br /> <br />Wincing a little then I ran <br />back up the garden to my Nan. <br />For where in the world could it be <br />the angel in the apple tree? <br /> <br />And after that I've often looked <br />for a seraph from the good book. <br />Peeping, peering just to see <br />if she was looking back at me.<br /><br />Gillian.E.
