I can't get the image of <br />a little girl from my mind <br />deprived of her defenses <br />separated from her friends <br />threatened and beaten by those unkind <br />forced to suffer unspeakable pain <br />in a place where she is hidden <br />and yet for freedom reaching still <br />from across the great divide. <br />One sad little girl <br />arms outstretched for a hug <br />watches her freedom wane <br />as she crumples on her bed and cries. <br />Gutteral cries emitted in grief <br />she feels herself being raped <br />by cruelty beyond belief <br />and is so helpless <br />but to rant and rave. <br />Beaten by circumstance <br />awaiting her freedom to come <br />a helpless little girl <br />sees her future as dark and bleak <br />that she may as well be an experiment <br />floating in a jar...<br /><br />Barbara Lynn Terry<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/an-experiment-in-cruelty/
