The touch of her soft hand
i remember it well.
i hear her voice;
she still dwells
dear aunt rochelle.

How i have missed you
and your glow.
The tales you told me
such a long time ago.
Your storys of france
and the chateau.
the secrets youve told me
and still nobody knows

I remember your collection
of big exotic hats
with feathers and jewlery
all kinds of nick nacks

I also remember your beauty
and how your presance
graced the room
like the soft glow
of an angel
wearing the best perfume

Everybody knew and loved you
and always wanted to talk
but they never knew you
like i did
so we would go take a walk
and you would tell me
how much you did regret
starting to smoke
as you lit a cigerette.

I found a friend in you.
a friend ill never forget
and the way you treated me
differently from anyone you met

I one day asked,
i was only 10 years old,
why i was so different
and there she told me
how i reminded her
of herself
when she was a child
by everything i did
and she shed a tear and smiled.
Then she sung to me
one last story
the melody still echos
in my head,
she made me promise
her that i would never do what she did:
to not do what she wanted
and followed someone elses path instead.
and i still swear on
every word i said.

At her funeral
a thousand tears were shed
heaven couldnt wait.
I still swear on every word i said.

.For Shelly.

Chelsey Sanes

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/angel-to-dust/
