Come, steer away from such fruitless appetite! <br />The window beckons with a shake of wind and leaves, <br />Inviting you to a friendly flight of air. Take this flight <br />And with it, empty me, for I'm filled with dreams! <br /> <br />Remind me of sensations of single smells <br />Of clovers and leaves and salt and people. <br />Remind me of weight- the varying weight of me. <br />Please, remind me as to how we exist. <br /> <br />I have forgotten my purpose beyond your endless trail of dreams. <br />Do not rob me of my muscle; do not wither me to pulp... <br />Please do not mask me as an image of our neighbor, the heart. <br /> <br />What good is it to have two hearts? <br />One seeks enough trouble for the both of us. <br />This happy air the heart feasts on, <br />Does little to fatten me. <br />I cannot live off of your heart's giving <br />It will weaken my walls of sense... <br />It will rob the very blood from me. <br /> <br />Come now, take my guidance, <br />And stop making me swallow this merry meal of stars- <br />Allow me to reintroduce you to your friendly companions <br />Busily touching and hearing and smiling far beyond outside. <br />Allow me to remind you what it is to exist... and with it, <br />To find means for 'fulfilling' such dreams!<br /><br />Masiela Lusha<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-mind-speaks/
